His fortitude was tested through many rites of passage, both moral and political, long before he was elected the first president. The One had a strictly limited dearth of experiences--in one area, that of "community organizer," before using his color-coded rhetoric to get an appointment to the Senate. He made the jump to his current position, not by dint of any true leadership experience or accomplishment, but through bypassing the usual rites of political passage and manipulating the mass media by way of his activist credentials.
